RustDesk remote desktop

RustDesk (https://rustdesk.com/ , https://github.com/rustdesk ) is Open source virtual/remote desktop software like TeamViewer or AnyKey. It is on par with them in functionality, except that RustDesk is Open software, meaning free. It gains large popularity, as it does job well, and especially because commercial alternatives became unreasonably expensive unacceptable for noncommercial or low profile use.

Actually, there is one more big difference – You can host RustDesk on your own. This makes you independent from third parties. It makes it even more favorable.

Author of RustDesk actually recommends using self hosted servers for simple reason – public servers that are available, and free to use, actually do cost money. […]

3D model: Knob for metallic 1/4″‘-20 photo nut (screw)

Knob adapter to 1/4″-20 photo nut. Uses metallic nut easily available, version that has wire hook. Wire hook is removed and only nut body is used.

Prints in two parts that fit together and need to be glued after metallic nut is inserted.

When inserting metallic nut into plastic cap, pay attention that nut has two side holes left after wire is removed and cap has two small bumps that should snap into those holes. align them.

This allows you to have metallic screw with nice and practical plastic knob.

3D model: Hand circular cutter, cutting depth limiter

I have hand circular cutter made by Parkside (model HG02867). It is useful for cutting rubber, plastic or paper sheets, fiber and similar materials.

I wanted to use it to cut stickers printed on self adhesive paper. Problem was, that it cuts stickers all the way. I want to cut just sticky part. So I made this add-on for the tool that allows me to set cutting depth. It works fine. You can have two sheets of paper on top of each other and set cutting depth to cut just upper one.

Designing this was easy. Tool already had suitable hole where I heat inserted common M4 hex nut using soldering iron (curled brass inset would fit too). […]

3D model: 1/4″-20 nut (screw) for photo camera mount

1/4″-20 threaded screw used for photography equipment. This is meant to be 3D printed as replacement for metal screws for non vital usage. Do not trust these to carry heavy and expensive equipment.

Four types are available. Slight differences are in dimensions and shape of handle wheels.
